Charming Victorian Tortoiseshell & Silver Piqué

Charming mid 19th Century (c.1860) English Victorian antique tortoiseshell and silver piqué work etui, of shaped rectangular form with cut corners at the back and a hinged cover, inlaid with foliate branches bearing flowers and grapes, initials on the cover, with a small silver plaque incised with initials on the cover, the red velvet and silk lined interior fitted with a notecard, needle case, silver thimble, propelling pencil, bodkin and a small enamel pot inscribed ‘Trifles these respect’. Piqué work is identified by the presence of metals, usually gold and silver, set into materials such as tortoiseshell or ivory.
