China Tea Set: Fine Bone China English Tea Set by Sheltonian, with an Indian Tree Style Pattern

A fine 17 x piece bone China tea set by Staffordshire pottery brand Sheltonian China, to include: 6 x trios, 3 x side plates and 2 x cereal bowls. Manufactured between c1940-1965, and located at the Islington Works in Stoke, "Sheltonian China" was a brand name owned by the Empire Porcelain Co., and was a direct follow-on from the firm's Art Deco brand "Shelton Ivory." Little is recorded about the Sheltonian China brand, yet intrinsically, the distinctive mark of a 19th century military rifleman was only used when the firm produced premium range China tableware (such as this set), and today is scarce and much sought after by collectors.
