After forty years of shop keeping and maintaining beautiful showrooms, which have been regularly open six days a week, Robert and Wendy have now taken a slightly different approach to their business. Having sold their retail premises, the antique business is now fully online. The picture framing service has ceased to operate because of moving online.

Description
This superb large decorative doll like figure is a rare and well provenanced piece. it was once part of the collection of curiosities from the famous Jamaica Inn, Cornwall.
This superb Chinese figure was presented to the museum by Major A.R.D Allenger of Kingston Lane, Shoreham by the Sea on the 8.5.1955. It comes with an original handwritten label from the museum noting its provenance.
The figure was sold in 2002 at the dispersal sale of the collection and has been in single private ownership since.
This figure is far more than a doll. It is a genuine work of art. The main body is soft and is made from fabric with a straw filling.
The head, arms, hands, legs and feet are all made from wood with some additional detail in papier mache.
The hair is partly carved with the addition of real hair and wool to produce the ponytail.
The young girl has a very pleasing hand painted face with a kindly expression. She is beautifully dressed in a brightly coloured exotic tunic and trousers, all of which are made from silk with fabulous silk and gold thread used to hand embroider the decoration of an exotic bird, numerous flowers and foliage.
She also has an elaborate head decoration with beadwork and lots of ornamentation. In addition, she is wearing bright turquoise stud earrings. Her small delicate feet have matching silk shoes.
This remarkable and highly decorative figure is displayed on a later hand made giltwood stand.
The figure shows some signs of wear and age but is still in remarkably good condition and would make a fabulous stand alone decorative object or could be a great addition to any serious collection.
