Circus Themed Painted Red Washstand Cabinet with Star to Top

This is a useful small antique washstand cabinet dating to the early 20th century. Made of mahogany the cabinet is perfect for use in a nursery, playroom or childs bedroom, ideal for stowing away toys etc. The front of the cabinet is fitted with double doors which are finished with metal drop handles, the doors open to reveal a cupboard space which has been separated in the middle by a piece of plywood, this was added at a later date. Above the doors is a single wide drawer and the top of the cabinet is finished with a small backplate. I have hand painted this piece is a red water based paint before decorating the top with a star and the doors with attractive stencilling to create a circus theme. The finish has been lightly distressed and then darkly waxed to add depth and character. Condition The cabinet is in solid structural condition with various cosmetic marks. The left-hand door handle does not turn, it is also missing its back lever. The back right-hand leg has an old repair near the base. Measurements height-80cms plus 7cms of back plate width- 99cms depth- 45.5cms cupboard space measures 29cms high x 37cms deep, left hand cupboard is 43.5cms wide, right hand cupboard is 46cms wide The measurements are taken at the widest points.
