Description
An extremely well made Cotswold School oak table .
Of the highest quality .
All sides / edges and feet are hand carved .
Even the expansion pieces are carefully numbered and painstakingly hand carved .With brass screws to hold the table and allow for thermal expansion of the wood also called linear thermal expansion .
This is a true sign of a man at the top of ones ability .
A true understanding of wood .
The top has a protective glass covering .
The feet have had ebony inserted into them in order to protect the tables feet .Highly unusual .
In my opinion this is by one of the best craftsman in the UK .Peter Waals .
One could argue as to an Edward Barnsley attribution .
I think this is as good as Stanley Webb Davies and the work of the Barnsleys/Waals .It's pure quality .
One can,t know everything but hand on heart I,m suggesting Peter Waals or Edward Barnsley .
Any further research or evidence to elucidate a different craftsman will be added in due course .
Cotswold school is classed as arts and crafts .
