Description
This is a charming country style bureau bookcase dating to the early 20th century.
Made of pine and mixed woods this unusual piece is solid and well made and has the benefit of splitting into two parts.
The base consists of a bureau with three drawers and a fall front top which opens to reveal an unusual fitted interior with three large lidded compartments and several small drawers. The fall front is supported by two pull out lopers.
The top section is a glazed book cabinet with two fixed shelves and attractive astral glazed doors.
This piece was already painted when we found it, the paintwork is a durable pale beige eggshell finish which has been very lightly distressed.
Condition
This piece is in solid structural condition with many small marks of age and use and a couple of small repairs.
One of the back legs is missing a small section of wood but is still structurally sound.
The hinges to the fall front have been moved/replaced at some point in time.
The interior of the top cabinet looks have been paper lined and later painted, the paper has bubbled up in places. The back of the cabinet also has some shrinkage gaps.
