Description
This is a good late 19th Century Victorian antique armchair, possibly a nursing chair or living room chair. I have seen three similar chairs all attributed to E.W Godwin. There are similarities to the chair on page 128 of the Soros book. The front legs and uprights correspond to this chair, as do the turnings and swept back. What sets this chair apart is the lack of buttons on the seat, but buttoned back, so there is possibly more weight to attribute this one than the others attributed.
I would suggest that the covering appears to be original dating from 1880 at the time on manufacture.
Godwin had some of his furniture designs copied, thats why "in the style of ", "attributed " etc need to be carefully assessed. All of this paragraph is my opinion only.
Now available at a lower asking plrice if one inquires.
