Description
A very fine washstand of the highest quality manufacture of Robert Adam design overtones. Very likely of Scottish origins and from the craftsmen of recognised stature. Starting at the top with the cornice having egg and dart mouldings above the three swag and garland panels, set to the sides with reeded columns with gilded brass Corinthian capitals, a most unusual feature on any piece of bedroom furniture. The swivelling bevelled mirror is central to four small shelves under which is a grained ink marble slab top (probably Carrara marble).
The marble extends to 'canted' corners which have the most delightful carve rams heads above cascading carved oak leaves. The two central drawers retain their original brass handles as the door escutcheons. The lower section has a full length undershelf, all sat on the original castors.
All in exceptional good untouched condition.
