Previously I worked in London as a Chartered Surveyor and have been dealing in paintings for thirty years. I have exhibited at at many major antique fairs and have vetted at them when required. I live in North Yorkshire but trade from Castlegate Antiques, 1/3 Castlegate, Newark, Notts, NG24 1A2 Tel 01636 701877 where my stock can be viewed Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm. However it is advisable to ring first if wishing to view a specific item in case it is in Yorkshire. If not at Newark it can then be brought to the shop to be viewed at your convenience.

Description
Edmund Aubrey Hunt (1855-1922), the eldest of five children, he was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts and moved to France to further his artistic career, spending five years studying in Paris under Jean Leon Gerome, the celebrated Orientalist painter, before moving to Britain in 1879 and settling down with his wife at Shepperton in Surrey. He first exhibited his work at the Boston Arts Club in 1877, showing there until 1905.From 1879 he exhibited at the Red l Society of British Artists at Suffolk Street, where he became a member in 1884. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in London from 1881-1918,exhibiting 18 paintings and other exhibition venues include the New English Art Club in London and the Paris Salon in 1888, as well as the Chicago Institute in 1904. Edmund Aubrey Hunt was a seasoned traveller who revisited his native America as well as going to Italy, Holland and North Africa, in particular Morocco. He died in Hastings in November 1922 at the age of sixty seven. Examples of this artists work are represented in the collections of Leeds Art Gallery ,the Leicester Art Gallery and the National Maritime Museum Greenwich. ‘Sailing Craft in Choppy Water’ signed watercolour. Newly framed in a glazed giltwood frame with wash lined mount.
