Mid 19th Century (c.1860) Victorian antique drop dial twin fusee wall clock. A rarer example striking the hours on a bell. A mahogany case and the original side carvings. A glazed pendulum aperture. A brass bezel surround to the dial. A 12" painted dial signed ' Edw Hardy, Wells ' with blued steel hands. Twin side doors and an opening bottom door. An 8-day duration double fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell of high quality.
Edward Hardy of Wells (Somerset) is recorded in A J Moores'' 'Watch and Clockmakers of Somerset' book as working from 1842-1875. He worked in the High Street and Priest Row.
