This Edwardian antique inlaid mahogany writing desk table was made circa 1901. The Edwardian period is known as the age of elegance and this desk is a good example of the elegant living in this period. It stands on square tapering legs with a double line of stringing down to the castors. It has one wide drawer above the kneehole and a further box drawer to each side of this. The writing surface has an inset leather that is tooled. To the rear of the top is the superstructure with 2 sets of drawers that are joined by the shelf and the lovely gilt brass cast gallery. The drawers are fitted with the original brass handles. The desk is polished to the rear and so can be set away from the wall.
