Description
This is an absolutely stunning Edwardian (c.1905) antique oak sideboard, labelled for J. Cambell & Co Cabinet Makers Glasgow, Scotland. The base has three cupboards and four drawers whilst the top section has mirrored recesses and a pair of central cupboards. All the decorative brass handles are present and original. Although this sideboard has a profuse amount of decoration it has been done in such a subtle way that it doesn't look too excessive. The carvings to the cupboard are very crisp and shows a plethora of mystical dragons, birds and cherubs, all with intertwined with foliage and flowers. The sides have large fielded panels alongside reeded columns. The front section has bevelled supports in-between the doors with carvings to the lower aprons. The fourth drawer is below the central drawer and has blind handles to the curved underside. This is a heavy piece of furniture the breaks into two halves across the middle.
The condition is very good with a small amount of foxing on the original bevelled mirrors as expected, aside from that the piece is difficult to fault.
