Description
A fine early Royal Crown Derby porcelain tapered bucket shape coffee cup and saucer with a French shape handle with grooved sides and moulded ridges above the pointed terminals. Boldly painted in an oriental style in an imari type palette with stylised angular panels in underglaze blue and iron red enamel reserving white. The main blue panels reserving small "mons" with a rich gilt foliage; the red also reserving "mon" type flowers with gilt centres and also some feathery leaf and scrolled teardrop shapes. The white reserves are painted with stylised peonies and there are smaller blue sections with decorative gilding. In the centre of the saucer is a garden scene with fence, rocks and plants set beside a body of water in a striking lilac blue. The cup handle has a gilt leafy vine running all the way up its spine an both pieces finishing with gilded rims.
Factory stamp to both pieces, painted pattern number 1813, letter B and impressed Derby mark to the saucer also, c.1905.

The cup measures 7.5cm (2 15/16") rim to rim and 6.4cm (2 5/8") high and the saucer measures 13cm (5 1/8") wide and 2.4cm (15/16") high.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair and minor handling wear, mainly just to the gilt on the side edges of the handle and very fractionally to the cup rim.
