Description
Edwardian Silver Mounted Jewel Box. London 1906. Superb example, undulating oval shape, a tortoiseshell cover with a lappet border and a cabochon, a polished agate set in silver to the centre. Original velvet lining and just to add a final embellishment, a gold edge to the main body of the box, See images. The hinge is crisp, the box closes exactly as it should. No dings, damage or restoration. Clearly hallmarked to both the bottom and cover London 1906 by William Comyns. The leather base bears the retailers mark of Mappin & Webb. Just over 4½ inches (12cm) wide. All my photos are taken using natural light only. Our ref 9556.
