Handsome marble-top English console table, with a beautiful cast iron base depicting Edward VII. A lovely white marble top, with grey veining, and some ‘rust’ marks that are now part of its history. The base is in wonderful untouched condition, in the original worn black and gold paint, and stamped with both the manufacturer’s name and number.
The Biclam Foundry was established in 1886 in Ardwick Manchester, and this was probably produced to celebrate the coronation of Edward VII in 1902.
Wonderful patination to the ironwork, with no over-painting, and apart from the rust marks, beautiful condition to the marble with no knocks or cracks. A lovely piece for a hallway, living room, or even bathroom. It could obviously also be used outside, but I would not recommend as the detail to the iron base would eventually be lost.
