This is a fine quality 18th Century (c.1735) antique mahogany drop-leaf table of superb golden colour. Made from fine cuban mahogany and in fabulous original condition, the rule joint works perfectly and the top has remained remarkably flat, retaining the original hinges. The shaping of the Table is pleasing on the eye and its lovely to see the colour flowing over the round to the edge of the top. The top of the legs with rounded corners which is a relatively unusual feature that can also be seen on a table of this design attributed to Giles Grendey in Adam Bowetts book: 'Early Georgian Furniture', page 256 plate 5:103, also see Christopher Gilbert, 'Marked London Furniture 1700-1840', fig. 441,p.244.
