Description
A very fine quality silver vase on stepped collet foot with knopped stem and an ornate shaped inset frieze with a very finely detailed cast grape vine and a detailed cast patterned rim. The whole was originally gilded and the gilding is retained very well to the inset frieze and inside the vase. Elsewhere the gilding remains as an attractive washed effect around the foot and sunken areas. The two tone effect is very pretty and blends subtly but it could clearly be re-gilded. Hallmarked for London 1913, makers mark is quite rubbed but I'm pretty sure is it for Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater.
measurements
