Description
Offered for sale is this good cast brass door porter of Eagle and Snake by Pearson Page of Birmingham circa 1910-1920. As illustrated in their catalogue of 1910 model number 1622 Photos 8&9 Well cast, finished and detailed, lead filling to give extra weight, to the back. The Eagle and snake fighting symbolise two sides of a conflict. Both animals are strong and ruthless, but most often the eagle is seen as the noble side and as a contrast to the snake, which is often represented as bad. Most often in this battle, the eagle, that is, the good side wins.
