A fine quality late 19th century bureau plat, or writing table. Of French origin in the Louis XVI style. Of kidney shape and very well constructed. With attractive kingwood veneers onto a mahogany carcas. The veneers within the panels are laid in the "fish scale" pattern. Embellished throughout with crisply cast gilt metal mounts. The top is fitted with a sumptuous tan coloured leather writing surface, complete with gilt tooling to the surrounds. The top is finished with brass banding to the edges and a pierced open fret work brass gallery. With a single drawer to the front (lockable, key supplied). Sympathetically refinished in our workshops to a very high standard. Now offered for sale in excellent condition with a superb finish, ready to go straight into the home.
