Description
Five various staddle stones. One with the mushroom top. The origin of the staddle stone dates back to 16th-century Europe. Also known as mushroom stones, these were originally used in the 1700s - 1800s to raise hay stores, granaries, and larders up off the ground, protecting the contents from vermin and water damage. Now used mainly as structures to protect and enhance driveways etc.
