This is a handsome George III longcase clock by James Warren of Canterbury. There was a father and son, both named James working there in the late 18th Century.
The good quality case is in oak with mahogany cross banding. It has a nice slim trunk with long door and it stands on its original bracket feet (one back foot repaired) The trunk has a nice swan neck pedement, fluted columns with brass capitals and a pair of brass finials.
The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a nice clear painted dial with a subsidiary seconds dial.
The case is in good unrestored condition and has retained its original finish. The movement is in good working order and keeping good time.
