Description
A good example of an 18th Century Sterling Silver milk or cream jug. It is an elegant design with a beautifully shaped handle, round foot and ornate repousse floral decoration. The cartouche is engraved with ornate initials We above S.R.A. The jug is stylish and good quality, weighing approximately 82g.
The hallmark is worn but London and the maker Ann Smith & Nathaniel Appleton can be distinguished. The date mark is not clear but the shape narrows the window down to between 1770 - 1782.
Overall the jug is in good condition for its age. There are some faint surface marks and light signs of age and use and a few small dinks but nothing detrimental and it still displays well. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
