Description
Circa 1790- 1810 Charming & Smart Oak Longcase Clock with 8 Day Movement with Enamel Painted Dial with A Central Urn & Floral Swags.
Richard Northen (or sometimes Northern) was Working at Lowgate Hull circa 1780-1840. So, had a long Career with both Clocks & Also Barometers.
He must have been an Important Clockmaker in the area as, Not only is His Name Scribed on the Dial But in the Centre of the Hood Padoga is a Large N. One would surmise that the owners of the Clock wanted visitors to know they had a “Richard Northen” Clock. 18th Century Folk were just like people who today might wear Nike Trainers, Drive Mercedes Cars or Must have the latest mobile phone.
