Georgian Opaque Twist Wine Glass c.1760

18th Century George III antique opaque twist wine glass with a round funnel bowl which has a double series opaque twist stem consisting of a pair of spiral tapes outside a pair of spiral threads. The glass also has a spiral air column which runs 90% of the way down the stem but starts approx 1.5cm from the base of the bowl, which could point to the inclusion being an accident and thus we haven't classified this glass as a mixed twist. A fine accident indeed and a fine glass. Date & Origin:- England, c1760. Period of George III. Historical Context:- March 20th, 1760, the 'Great' Fire of Boston destroyed 349 buildings and the 'Great' Comet named C/1760 A1 approached Earth within 0.0682 Aus.
