Description
This beautiful silver sheathed ‘Magic Puzzle Wallet’ is executed very well by Chrisford and Norris, complete with a leather interior.
For those too young to remember, in my day the so called ‘Magic Wallet’ was often produced by Uncles and Grandfathers in or around Christmas to either make 10-shilling notes appear, disappear or if you were lucky even reappear!
In our family entertaining the children, grandchildren and cousins prior to Christmas Dinner being served, fell to Grandad who had various ‘magic tricks’, but none fascinated so much as his crusty old leather Magic Wallet.
Moreover, despite having 10 or more of us amused for half an hour most years, it seemed to me that he always avoided letting a single ten shilling note out of his wallet! When he passed away, my uncle inherited the wallet and responsibility for the show. Come to think of it, now he too has left us, I wonder where the wallet is?

condition
condition
Condition is good, although the silver shows the passage of time with surface scratches and dinks to both halves. One thing this wallet has which is a bit of a giveaway, is a monogram “FW” to one side along with ‘1917’ to one corner. I think we would have twigged the ‘magic’ if grandad’s had born a similar distinguishing mark!
Inside the leather panels and retaining straps are complete.
