Impressive Carved Pine Fireplace in Neo-classical Style

This is an impressive early 20th Century Neo-classical style faux stone fireplace surround carved from pine. The generous inverted breakfront mantle shelf sits above architectural cornicing and bold dentil detailing, and is decorated with an inverted ogee moulded gallery. The crisply carved frieze depicts scenes from the Greek mythology. The projecting block ends are embellished in floral paterae. The item has distinctive twin carved legs or jambs in the form of Greek maidens surmounted by carved corbels which are decorated with acanthus leaves. The fireplace has been finished in subtle faux limestone paint finish and would be a great addition to any household that owns a fireplace.
