Description
Perfect Steampunk!
A nice industrial style barograph by old established makers, Darton & Co. of Watford, sadly no longer trading. The hinged lid is in bright copper and will polish to a really high gloss if required. The cast iron base is quite interesting as it looks to be from the same mould as similar industrial barographs and thermographs made by Short & Mason & Negretti & Zambra - all very typical of 1950s functional design. The instrument uses the same weekly charts over the same barometric range and with a clock movement all as traditional 'domestic' style barographs.
The movement is lovely and in excellent working condition.
This instrument would grace any location - home, office, workshop etc.
A quantity of charts is included together with a fresh bottle of special blue recording ink and a reprinted pamphlet by Negretti & Zambra describing operating instructions and how to interpret typical chart recordings.
