Inlaid Burr Walnut Jewellery Box. Plush Interior. c.1875

Mid Victorian inlaid burr walnut jewellery box in very fine condition. Extremely attractive grain. Cross over effect twin brass strip inlays to the top and front with rosette style cartouche and escutcheon. Ebonised edge trim. The lid closes perfectly square. Original hinges and lock with a replacement working key supplied. The interior has been skilfully refurbished to serve as a jewellery box. Ruched silk panel within a silk covered frame to the lid interior. Tray comprising of 14 sections 4 of which feature silk covered lids with ornate gilt ring pull knobs. The small sections are ideal for those smaller items of jewellery. Please note the nice finishing touch of the silk top edges of the tray and all of the dividers. Side metal handles to the tray. Storage section beneath the tray with lightly padded silk covered panel to the base for those larger items of jewellery. Made approximately 150 years ago this item has skilfully been given a new lease of life for modern day use. Unpacked weight 2 Kg
