Description
Kayseri Silk Rug, Turkish, Early C20th
This stunning rug is hand knotted in luxuriously soft silk warp and weft and has a madder (red) ground with central medallion of a close floral design within multiple floral borders. The design is extremely complicated and beautifully executed with weaving of the highest quality. The dyes include an unusual soft pistachio, red, gentle tans, and creams. Being silk, the knots are extremely fine and the rug would have taken many months to make. The silk rugs of Kayseri, a town in central Turkey, are famous for their intricate designs, soft texture and fine weaving.
We welcome any questions or enquiries regarding the silk rug. Please message us and we will be delighted to help.
