Description
An eye-catching antique Meiji period Japanese four fold privacy screen or room divider with embroidered silk panels dating from circa 1900. The silk panels embroidered with scenes of houses, trees, bridges and temples within an ebonised pierced and carved wood surround decorated with birds and dragons, the reverse side with painted scenes. A substantial screen, it stands 6ft tall, the four folding panels fold away completely, so when not required it can be neatly tucked away. It is on castors for ease of movement. There is some wear and tears to the panels and rust on the castors etc but overall this is still a beautifully decorative screen, very well worked and an extremely eye catching piece.
