This is a large, circular, antique Doulton Lambeth, London high quality stoneware and brown salt glaze, three handled Loving Cup with a solid sterling silver London hallmarked rim. The three large handles are delightfully formed in the shape of Dachshund Dogs and manufactured between 1850-1899. The main body depicts various raised decorative scenes including two period dressed gentlemen enjoying conviviality in a tavern, hunting scenes and a lovely windmill and cottage with a lady leaning out of a window whilst a man arrives by donkey!
The solid sterling silver rim is hallmarked. The silver marks show the maker 'htb or Brockwell & Son', the Lion silver mark, the London assay office mark, the date letter K for the year 1885 and the Queen Victoria duty stamp.

condition
condition
In excellent condition with no cracks or restoration. It is unusual to see a Loving Cup survive intact as the handles are often damaged. There are two chips at the end of the tail of two Dachshunds. These chips are barely visible when this piece is being displayed.
