This is a lovely display barograph of very large proportions by leading French manufacturer's, Richard Freres of Paris. The serial number 26572 would date this instrument to around 1904. The polished oak hardwood case comprises a five-glass lift off lid and the lacquered brass movement is in excellent condition. There is a stack of 12 diaphragms designed for extra sensitivity over the 170mm high clockwork drum. There is also a mercury thermometer fitted to the base. It was clearly designed to be positioned for public or municipal display.
