I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a shop in Wallingford (OX100BU) between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
This is an octagonal blue and white Delft style charger from the Mettlach factory of the famous German manufacturers, Villeroy and Boch. It represents a charming idyllic winter scene, probably in the German countryside. Mettlach merged with Villeroy and Boch in 1836. The 'Mercury' ink stamp on the base dates the charger to 1874-1909, but it may be at the earlier end of the date range because it does not state the country of origin which became necessary in the late 19th century. The charger has holes on the base rim to enable it to be wall hung if desired.
