Late Victorian Engraved Gilt Snuff Shoe Snuff Box

* A superb gilt metal box in the form of a shoe with hinged back which we believe was used for snuff at the end of the 19th century. * The shoe is of a most elegant design, entirely covered in sharp tight engravings. The toe curls up with a rolled over tip, a bow in front of the hing and a shaped heel at the back. * There is the remains of possibly a spring loaded opening mechanism to the lid operated by a button at the back of the shoe.
