Clockwise is delighted to welcome into its collection a lovely restored LNER fusee railway clock dating from circa 1940. The eight day fusee rectangular plate anchor escapement movement is wire-driven and has just benefitted from a full overhaul so the clock enjoys a three year guarantee.
The superbly restored 10 inch dial bears the legend LNER 12673 and records show this clock as previously in use at Doncaster Works Chief Mechanical & Electrical Engineers Department Shipping Bureau.
Original spade hands behind a spun brass bezel, which retains its tab for security, complete the impressive appearance.
The mahogany case is of standard two piece pegged construction with the front bezel being of one-piece construction. There is a side inspection door and lower door. The lower door is secured by a turnkey lock and to the rear of the case are scrawled two inspection marks dating from 1956 and 1958. There is a stabilising hook at the bottom of the case.
This is an increasingly rare find and in superb condition - genuine railway clocks are becoming ever more scarce so enjoy this clock whilst you can.
Clockwise specialises in longcase and bracket clocks and with global clients from the world of business, film, sport, royalty and aristocracy - yet more than happy with traditional clients - Clockwise has an unrivalled reputation for excellence and superb service.
