This is a lovely Edwardian barograph in Art Nouveau style with a luxurious restored hardwood case, retailed by Ollivant and Botsford, Manchester. The Mahogany case with bevelled glass and a chart drawer to the base is inlaid with trailing bell husks, flowerheads and boxwood stringing supported on brass bun feet. The imposing instrument, larger than the traditional style barograph is in fully working order and accepts standard weekly recording charts. Almost certainly manufactured by Short & Mason, London. See extract from the book 'Weather' by Taylor Instruments of New York, dated 1908, who were agents for Short & Mason - showing this exact barograph.
