Description
A lovely piece for those who appreciate majolica, this triform stool is modelled with three lions heads and feet and has a removable padded stool cushion on a wooden base.
- Turquoise background glaze with green body, the lions' heads and feet in brown, with some gilding.
- Hand holds for lifting on all three sides.
- Heavy piece.
- Beige velvet cushion is fixed to a wooden base, which has a rod beneath and fits into a hole on top of the ceramic.
- Maker's stamp on the base, JvSL, along with number 801.
This will look fabulous in a conservatory and perhaps without the cushion top it might be used as a jardiniere stand.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. There is one break of a protrusion which is missing from beneath one of the lion's heads, but otherwise there are only some minor nibbles around the edges of the base. The upholstery would benefit from a clean.
