This is a handsome mid 18th Cent Longcase clock by Benjamin Fieldhouse of Leominster, Hereford. He is listed as working there in 1756.
The case is in nicely figured walnut and is in unrestored ''country house'' condition. As normal with clocks of this age there are traces of historic woodworm but these have been treated as a precaution. The trunk door has a working lock and key
The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a smart brass dial with silvered chapter ring and a large boss to the arch with the makers name. It also has a subsidiary seconds dial and date indicator. It has what look like the original brass cased weights but the brass covering is somewhat distressed.
The movement is in good working order and keeping good time. Judging by the number of restorers stickers to the back of the dial it has been regularly serviced.
