Our business is based in the beautiful village of Debenham in Suffolk, England, which is close to Constable country. I take our pride in being the 4th generation in my family to be antique dealers who have been buying and selling antiques for over a century. With our expanding web presence in the UK, we also have a base in the USA with Debenham Antiques inc. Along with expanding our international web based business, we also quite unusually retain our high street presence, with a large retail shop which we use to display our finest goods, and to offer the client a more personal service for the those who like to discuss their needs.
Here at Debenham Antiques we try to cater for all styles and tastes, and we believe this is reflected in our stock as you can find anything from 15th century carvings to late 20th century fine quality furniture. We have experts in furniture and paintings who buy our goods with safe knowledge. We also offer a wide range of fine quality reproduction furniture which is all lovingly handcrafted by ourselves locally, using the best timbers.
Debenham Antiques works hard to ensure that we provide the client with a quality experience from start to finish. All our buying, photography, restoration, polishing and shipping is carried out in house by our dedicated team of staff. This we feel allows us to be in control from start to finish, which only benefits our customers.
This is a large mid 19th Century (c.1850) Swedish pine long case mora clock, presented in scraped back paint. Scraped back down to reveal a partial colour of it's original paint. Typical with these types of clocks is that they often painted over a few times during their lifetime. Removable hood with opening door and domed handmade glass. Enamel round dial, with hand painted arabic numerals, signed by the maker jon sobman, with the area of wexio, which is likely to be an old spelling of vÄxjÖ.
Main pine built body, with door to the front which allows access to the pendulum. Standing on bracket feet. Original movement currently has no pulleys, but doe's strike when moved by hand, original pendulum supplied, but no weights. Clock is an ideal candidate to be fitted with a quartz movement for accurate time keeping. This could be done for an extra £200.
