Description
A very good aneroid pocket barometer by Negretti & Zambra with display stand and associated compass c.1880.
Pocket barometer having 1¾" die struck silvered dial, the barometric scale calibrated in inches with a range from 24" – 31" divided to 1/20th, standard meteorological terms and marked "Compensated." Blued steel pointer, bevelled glass.
The second generation movement driven from a single 1⅛" nickel alloy capsule tensioned on a coil spring, decorated chassis. All enclosed in a drum form case, pendant and bow, the verso with calibration port.

Generally good, the dial with slight loss at the 11 o’clock position, minor marks. The stand and associated compass in good condition, the compass swinging freely and finding north easily.
Comments: A nice early pocket barometer based on the Negretti & Zambra second series movement. The later compass an officer's private purchase marching compass dating to WWI.
Attractive and functional, a perfect desk accessory gift.
