Likely made by Gillows, we have a lovely quality oak linen press, cabinet, cupboard or whatever you wish to call it sitting in a super lived in condition. A recent find from a Cheshire period property alongside a couple of other quality pieces of the same era. So pleasing to find one in oak rather than the more common mahogany. It's a well sized and proportioned piece in a great tone and grain of English oak with plenty to admire - those original brass handles are a delight, the dentil carved deep, slightly oversailing cornice a lovely feature, the deep bottom plinth sits right, the 3 sliding inner pull-out drawers are super quality, the shapely front to the drawers are quality attributes and the overall scale is spot on. Numerous placing possibilities for this one - perfect for a decent sized hallway, bedroom, living room or maybe kitchen. Condition is good; all drawers are closing well, the drawer interiors are clean and neat, original brass handles are in place, the 3 sliding drawers inside are pulling well and could easily be removed if you require more space. We have historic marks etc but the piece sits solid and is ready for placing after a session in our workshop. Please note the cabinet breaks down into 3 more manageable pieces for ease of moving and placing but is still on the weighty side.
