Description
This is an original 19th Century (c.1870) French antique rosewood and lemon wood inlayed portico clock, with original fully serviced and cleaned movement stamped for Japy and Retailers mark Linet Aine Rue des Fontaines du Temple Paris, It is known that Linet was based on this address in 1850. with original pendulum in working order, striking on a bell the full and half hour, running for a week. The case with fine inlay and beautiful impressive twisted columns. Whole over still with the original gilding in good original used condition and beautiful patination. With very rich fine cast gilding ornaments around the dial and pendulum, interesting to see is the woman's head on top of the dial surround. It has a key. To your information it is interesting to find a portico clock with twisted columns in natural coloured wood simulating natural rosewood grain, usually you find twisted column portico clocks with black columns. To your information, all the clocks we sell are fully serviced, this is done in our own workshop. The movements are dismantled and fully cleaned and our clocks are in working order.
