This is a pair of antique carnival plaques. A Venetian, bronze on oak decorative wall plates, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Fascinating plaques, of superb quality and distinction. Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order. Lightly polished bronze shows shimmering golden tones and minimal tarnish. Set upon shaped oak plinths with unusual demi-lune corners.
Charming relief scenes presenting dancers at a masquerade ball. Pairs of figures hand-in-hand, with traditional renaissance period masks. Maker's marks engraved to lower corner, appears to read 'Kusuik'. Dressed to rear with small brass hanging loops for ease of mounting.
This is a striking pair of antique carnival plaques, with appealing Renaissance taste and of satisfying weight in the hand. Delivered waxed, polished and ready to display.
