Pair of Model French 18th Century Cannons c.1920

This superb pair of model desk cannons has been beautifully handmade in mahogany with nailed brass fittings and heavy cast bronze barrels. The attention to detail on these fine miniature cannons is superb. They have rotating spoked wheels with brass rims, a threaded rise-and-fall mechanism for aiming, and decorative strengthening brackets throughout. The maker has hand engraved brass title plates under each barrel with French, 1770 on each. This pair of cannons are very precise in their detail and scale. The condition is excellent and over the years they have developed a rich colour to the mahogany and a fine patina to the brass and bronze.
