Pair of Plaques in Bronzed Pewter Dante & Beatrice and Raffaello & Fornarina

Length 13.5cm, 5.5 inches Width at widest part 10.5cm, 4.25 inches A charming pair of bronzed pewter plaques. One depicting Raffaello & Fornarina has a foundry applied 'pad' mark which has the faint outline of a Fleur de Lis and could indicate France as the Country of origin. They are unsigned and are Victorian, possibly earlier, and are typical 'Grand Tour' subjects, popular for travellers to the historic cities of Europe and brought home as 'souvenirs'. These two depict famous Italian 'personalities'. " Raffaello E Fornarina" and "Dante E Beatrice". They are well cast with some minor losses to the bronzed surface coating, which can be seen in the photographs.
