Description
We have for sale a very unusual and difficult to describe small pair of mid 20th century hand crafted oak triform design chairs dating to somewhere around the 1960s.
This pair of very striking decorative chairs are of a very unusual design in which each chair consists of a back which extends forward to form central front leg constructed from a single piece of tapered oak timbre with a curved top with the central upper component of the back of each chair being decorated with carved flowers. This central chair back/front leg is then flanked by two more shaped oak timbers forming side legs. The solid oak seat is then fixed to the chairs at the junction point between the side legs and the chair back/ front leg. These chairs give the impression of being more design statements than purely functional pieces of furniture.
The chairs are 25 inches (63.5cm) high, 15 inches (39cm) wide and 18 inches (45.7cm) deep. Both chairs are in a good to very condition other than each curved back carrying a split.
