The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the name of the original retail jeweller, L Balkind, Melbourne. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 56mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop, so slightly larger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is 935 silver, slightly purer than sterling silver, and it was made by the Swiss case manufacturer Kramer and Moser in Biel, Switzerland, registered in 1882.
The case is in good condition, just a hint of unevenness in places and light marking. Originally there would have been engine turned detail but most of this has worn down over the years.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is a glass lens which is in good condition.
The bezel has a subtle rose gold hue and also a small hole, it is possibly a replacement bezel from a lever set watch.
The dial is signed L Balkind, Melbourne, 8 Days, Made in Switzerland. The dial is in lovely condition. Pin-set hands.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
