Description
The watch has a good quality Swiss 15-jewel stem-winding movement, with snail cam regulator, which is working nicely. The movement has been identified as by Revue. It is all protected by an inner hinged cover which has a later inscription, “Martin love always Sara”.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1927 with a case maker’s mark for the Birmingham manufacturer Dennison. Dennisons supplied cases for various watch makers. The case back is in good condition, just some light rubbing to the engine turned detail on the back and a gentle indentation, nothing too serious at all. The cartouche to the centre has the engraved initials Wm.
The acrylic lens is in nice condition, just the odd small mark, again nothing too detrimental… some white reflection showing in the photos.
The dial is signed with the brand name Prima and is in nice condition. An assembly company would have bought in movements from Revue and cases from Dennisons, all to be assembled and sold under this brand name. Original blued steel hands.
The watch comes with an antique silver pocket watch chain and Masonic silver and enamel fob.
The chain measures 35cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar is hallmarked for 1892. Each of the links on the graduated chain has the lion silver mark.
The heavy fob was awarded in 1929 by the Raob and has an inscription to the reverse.
The chain and fob weigh 52g.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
All prices include UK postage (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can
advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us
to post watches to your country. The international buyer is
responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a Vat registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
