Description
The watch has a Swiss 15 jewel stem-winding movement which is working well. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for London (import mark), 1919 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.
The case is in nice condition with crisp engine turned detail to the back and a vacant cartouche to the centre. The case back has the odd mild bruise, and the inner case back has some light rubbing
The watch glass is in nice condition.
The double sunk dial looks lovely to the naked eye. It has a very faint hairline crack between 1 and 2 but it is incredibly faint, difficult to see even with a jeweller’s loupe. Original blued steel hands.
The watch comes with a later silver double albert, each chain measures 25cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The clasps are stamped sterling silver and there are hallmarks on the T-bar ring but difficult to read. There is also a shorter length of chain which has a silver fob hallmarked for 1925.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
