Offered for sale is a most attractive premier edition edition, Henri d'Arceau & Fils of Limoges "La Tour Eiffel" plate. This collectors plate is the 11th in the series "Les Douze Sites Parisiens de Louis Dali". Issued by the porcelain house of Henri d'Arceau & Fils of Limoges, France, under the auspices of the Societe de Paris et Son Histoire, the association dedicated to the preservation of the cultural, artistic and historic legacy of Paris and to the appreciation of that legacy throughout the world. Louis Dali (1905-2001) was a
French painter known for his techniques in capturing the atmosphere of Paris in his street scenes. Louis specialised in small street scenes in Paris and received high honours in many exhibitions in Europe, receiving the silver medal by the city of Paris in 1965 and won several awards at the Salons in Paris.
Louis Dali was a member of the Society of French Artists in Paris and started his career as a mechanical engineer and had only started painting as a hobby.
In the late 1970's, he was commissioned by the French government to paint his interpretation of the twelve sights of Paris. The collection was eventually used as the subject for a series of Limoges plates of which this item is number Ae657. Comes complete with original certificate of authenticity and accompanying information leaflet.
